Peterloo walk starting at 11.00am from the main door of Manchester Cathedral.

The Peterloo Massacre took place on 16th August 1819. A peaceful crowd, gathered at St Peter’s Fields in Manchester to demand political reform, was attacked by the military, resulting in at least 18 deaths and hundreds of injuries.

This walk will explore episodes in Manchester radical history including the Siege of Manchester in 1642, Thomas Walker and the Manchester Radical movement of the 1790s, and the riot at the Royal Exchange in 1812. It will end at the site of Peterloo with an account of what took place on the day hour by hour.

The cost will be £8. Advance booking is strongly recommended and can be done by emailing: redflagwalks@gmail.com

Please note that this walk has no connection whatsoever with the Peterloo Memorial Committee
