Saturday 30th September 2017
The Tories are heading to our city for their conference from 1st-4th October. On 1st we will take to the streets to show them what we think of their austerity, rampant inequality and corruption. We’ll show them that we hold them responsible for the gross injustice they promote, for the deaths of disabled people as a result of their welfare to work policies and for the sinking living standards of all but their friends, the super rich.
Before that though, we come together to celebrate our cultures of resistance and grassroots alternatives.
The Commoner’s Choir (http://www.commonerschoir.com/) will perform songs about food riots, inequality, the cultural harrying of the North, Woody Guthrie, the Calder Valley floods, homelessness, refugees, the printed word, and the rhyming possibilities of Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt… stitched together with soundbites, found sounds, and words of wisdom.
The choir will be joined by DJs with protest party vibes.
