Under the Pavement: Show Background Information
Under the Pavement has been broadcasting on ALL FM 96.9 (a community radio station in south Manchester, England) since July 2002. Initially the show was broadcast monthly (every four weeks) before moving to a fortnightly slot in January 2003 following a request from the station management.
The show went off air in July 2003, taking a break for a few months, before relaunching in March 2004 with a new line up of presenters.
After several years broadcasting every Thursday from 11.00pm until 1.00am the show now broadcasts every other Thursday from 9.00pm-11.00pm (GMT/ BST) on ALL FM 96.9 across south, central and east Manchester and online at http://www.allfm.org.

The show has an alternative/ leftfield eclectic playlist covering punk, folk, experimental, electronica, indie and world championing DIY and social comment music.
Content:
The aim of the show is to report on direct action and grass roots resistance in the Manchester area.
The show features a weekly news round up plus a gig and What’s On Guide.
Presenters:
At present the team members include David, Cubesville and occasional guest presenter Veg who produce and present the show.
All members of the team are volunteers and any publicity/ content for the shows is funded by the team itself.
The content and music policy for the show is decided by the team.

The Under the Pavement website has been running since the show started in 2002, giving news, playlist and contact details.
In the last few years we’ve added a listen again feature with links to the shows on Mixcloud.

Subscribers to the list get a weekly email with playlists, news and details of future shows.
Anyone who submits material to the show is added to the list so will know if their material is being aired.

ALL FM 96.9 is a community radio station serving the communities of south, central and east Manchester.
The area includes the three main Manchester universities (Manchester University, Manchester Metropolitan University and UMIST) which together have 57,500 full time students.
Catchment area:
Whilst the station was set up to serve the needs of the communities of Ardwick, Longsight and Levenshulme the signal and listenership covers a much wider area reaching most of the city of Manchester (with a population of 432,500) and the surrounding boroughs of Greater Manchester.
Over 6,000,000 people live within the 30 mile radius of the city of Manchester.
